NEW DELHI:
In a massive boost to India’s rapidly growing logistics sector, Logistics Data Bank (LDB), the award-winning container tracking solution from DMICDC Logistics Data Services (DLDS), has reached yet another milestone by tracking 10 million EXIMcontainers till date since the commencement of its operations in July 2016.
The container tracking services had started from Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) from July 2016 and extended to Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) in May 2017.
The double-digit milestone of EXIM containers tracked at all container terminals ofthese two ports in India’s western corridor coincides with a directive to DLDS for implementing the LDB services pan India. The directive, issued by Ministry of Shipping’s Tariff Authority for Major Ports (TAMP), will soon make LDB services available across all major port terminals of India.
“DLDS’ milestone of 10 million EXIM containers is testimony to the positive transformation of India’s logistics sector, which is constantly working towards bringing efficiency in the supply chain and valuable information to the stakeholders through the utilization of ICT.
We are hopeful to bring a radical change in the Logistics sector of India through LDB services and achieving more such milestones in the future,” said Piyush Sinha, CEO of DLDS.
“Our work has significantly improved competitiveness of logistics and manufacturing industries, by providing transparency into the system, thereby providing performance evaluation of ports, inland container depots, container freight stations and supply chain industry,” he added.
Launched in 2016, LDB’s digital end-to-end container tracking system has been hailed as a potentially game-changing technology for the Indian logistics sector, which has been plagued by expensive logistics, poor handling infrastructure, unorganised warehousing and inefficient movement of goods.
It is a one-of-its-kind Indo-Japanese technology partnership that provides a near real-time digital tracking solution to streamline container logistics operations. It provides users a single window interface to check location of the container along its entire journey, from ports to inland container depots and container freight stations, with complete trace-back information on intermediate points crossed and time taken, thereby enabling visibility and transparency in the entire supply chain.
