    KOCHI:
    “Librarian is the custodian of social memory and his absence in a society will result in social Alzheimer’s”, said Sangeeth Varghese, founder, LeadCap Ventures, Bengaluru and Thinker and Global leader, World Economic Forum.

    He was inaugurating the Library Technology Conclave 2019 organized by CUSAT Library and Informatics, Bengaluru at University Science Seminar Complex. “Evolution of libraries goes hand-in-hand with that of society. The leaders of innovation should consider the changes a large scale innovation can bring about and its effects on the users and society.”

    CUSAT Vice Chancellor Dr. R Sasidharan presided and Prof. J P Sigh Joorel, Director, INFLIBNET Centre was guest of honour. The sessions on the first day were lead by Prof. Viraj Kumar, IISc, Christopher Cormack, Technical Head, Koha Team, New Zealand and Dr. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay. Prof. Marshall Breeding from USA, Prof. Viraj Kumar from IISc, Dr. Jagdish Arora, Dr. Kavi Mahesh, Shashi Kiran, Dr. V Gopakumar, Dr. Rama Patnaik, Dr. Sandhya Shekhar, B P Prakash, Dr. Rishikesha Krishnan, Dr. Prasad Ram, P Jayarajan, Damodar Padhi, Prof. G Santhosh Kumar, Dr. Anand Byrappa etc. will lead the sessions on the remaining days. A round table featuring keynote address by Prof. Shalini Urs will be the highlight of the concluding day. Journalist Natasha Jog, Dr. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay, Dr. H S Siddamallaiah, Anu Mariya Sebastian and Tushar Bansal will participate in the round table.
