THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Ahead of Thiruonam, Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) today launched its Food Truck near the Central Bus Station of Kerala State Transport Corporation (KSRTC) at Thampanoor in the state capital, turning a KSRTC bus into a tea-and-snacks joint and sales outlet.
Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister J Chinchurani inaugurated the Food Truck, at a function presided over by Transport Minister Antony Raju.
Speaking on the occasion, Chinchurani said a subsidy of Rs 4 will be given to dairy farmers on each litre of milk procured from them as an ‘Onam bonanza’.
Milma has, of late, been making great efforts in stepping up production, diversification and marketing of its products. As a result, Milma’s products have now reached even foreign markets, she said.
The food trucks are being set up in various bus depots of KSRTC as part of the Shops-on-Wheel project as a joint initiative of KSRTC and Milma, Shri Antony Raju said.
As in previous years, Milma is seeking to achieve record-breaking sales of its products this Onam season, TRCMPU Administrative Committee Convener N Bhasurangan noted during his welcome address. The promotional efforts to achieve the target had begun well in advance, he said.
TRCMPU Administrative Committee member, VS Padmakumar, Managing Director DS Konda and Milma Thiruvananthapuram Dairy Senior Manager G Hariharan also attended the function.
The food truck opened in Thampanoor is the third one in the Southern region that comes under the purview of TRCMPU, the others being located in East Fort in the city and in the Karunagapally KSRTC bus depot. TRCMPU will soon be launching similar Food Trucks in Kayamkulam, Adoor, Pandalam, Kollam, Attingal, Chadayamangalam, Kattakada, Neyyattinkara and Nedumangad.
The newly opened Food Truck is stationed at the entrance of the Central Bus Station. The interior of a bus has been fashioned after a restaurant by furnishing with chairs and tables for serving tea and snacks. One side of the bus has been turned into a counter for display and sale of all of Milma’s high-quality, delectable products. Either side of the bus has been made attractive by featuring advertisements of various Milma’s products.
