  • Milma’s TRCMPU Announces Additional Price of Rs 15 Per Litre of Milk for Farmers

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
    The annual general body meeting (AGM) of Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU), held here today, announced an additional price of Rs 15 per litre of milk procured from farmers affiliated to the cooperative societies under it.

    The 38th AGM of TRCMPU, presided over by Chairman Mani Viswanath, also announced a cattle feed subsidy of Rs 200 per bag.

    The AGM adopted Rs 1474-crore Revenue Budget and Rs 52 crore Capital Budget for 2024-25 financial year, besides approving amendments to certain rules of TRCMPU.

    With this increase in price, coming into effect from November this year, the procurement price of milk will go up to Rs. 59.98 per litre, Viswanath announced at the AGM. Of this, Rs 10 will go to farmers, Rs 3 to the societies and Rs 2 will be converted as the farmers’ share in the Union.

    This is the highest ever increase in procurement price in the history of Milma, for which Rs 13 crore has been earmarked.

    After the present board of directors assumed charge in December 2023, additional price totaling of Rs 20 crore had been provided. Also, cattle feed subsidy at the rate of Rs 100 per bag has been provided since then.

    Members of 831 milk cooperative societies affiliated to TRCMPU attended the AGM, which was also a record.

    The amendments to the rules were adopted by the meeting unanimously.

    TRCMPU Director P G Vasudevan Unni welcomed the members at the outset. Director Board members K R Mohanan Pillai moved the official resolutions. Director TK Prathula Chandran moved the condolence resolution. Director Ajithsingh WR proposed the vote of thanks.

    Participating in the discussion, members hailed the welfare schemes launched by TRCMPU such as Ksheerasumangali, Ksheerasoubhagya and Santhvanasparsham.

    TRCMPU Managing Director Dr Muraly P replied to queries from the members.
