  • Minister Chinchurani Inaugurates Milma P&I Headquarters at Mannar

By NE Reporter on September 5, 2022

    ALAPPUZHA:
Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development J Chinchurani inaugurated the newly-built P&I headquarters of Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU-Milma) at Mannar, here.

Speaking on the occasion, Chinchurani said arrangements have been made for distributing the incentives of Rs four/litre for the milk procured from dairy farmers by cooperative societies from July 2022. The incentive will continue till March 2023.

“Besides, Milma has given Rs one/litre as Onam incentive for the milk procured in June 2022,” she said.

Chinchurani said a 24-hour ambulance service with doctor and surgical facility will be made available in all block panchayats as part of enhancing veterinary care facilities.

The Minister said the process of bringing all cattle in state under insurance coverage is going on as it would address the financial loss incurred to farmers due to natural calamities.

“In order to peg the price rise and ensure availability of cattle feed ingredients, large scale maize farming has begun in Palakkad district. Currently, farmers are getting quality-ensured cattle feed from the factories of Milma and Kerala Feeds,” she said.

Chinchurani said strict quality checks are being conducted at border check-posts to prevent arrival of spurious milk from other states in the wake of identifying high dose of Urea in milk.

She added that discussions are on to revise the price of milk for the benefit of dairy farmers.

TRCMPU Administrative Committee Convenor N Bhasurangan presided over the function.

Grama Panchayat President, Mannar, T V Ratnakumari; TRCMPU Administrative Committee Members K.R. Mohanan Pillai and VS Padmakumar; TRCMPU MD DS Konda; District Panchayat Member, Alappuzha, Valsala Mohan; Block Panchayat Member, Mavelikkara, B K Prasad; Panchayat Member, Mannar, Sujith Sreerangam; and Animal Husbandry Department Deputy Director Treesa Thomas were also present.
