  • National Banana Festival 2018: Training Programme on Value Added Products

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
    A Training Programme, to create value added products using banana, will be held ahead on February 7 and 8, 2018, at Kalliyoor, ahead of the five-day National Banana Festival (NBF -2018).
    Those who are part of the Training Programme will get an opportunity to exhibit their products at the National Banana Festival (NBF-2018) to be held from February 17 to 21 at the Vellayani Temple Ground in Kalliyoor Grama Panchayat.
    The Thiruvananthapuram -based Centre for Innovation in Science & Social Action (CISSA) is organizing the NBF 2018, in collaboration with the Kalliyoor Grama Panchayat, Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) acknowledged by United Nation University; ICAR-National Centre for Banana, Tiruchirapalli; UNESCO New Delhi, Central and State Government institutions involved in Banana Research and Promotion, as well as NGOs working in this sector.
    With the focal themes Conserving Diversity, Preserving Identity and Promoting Value Addition, the event would bring together Banana farmers, businessmen, academicians, machinery manufacturers, agro biotech companies and researchers from around the country. Organizing a big national level event, at a rural village is a distinct specialty of the festival.
