Dr. Divya S. Iyer, Managing Director of Vizhinjam International Seaport, emphasized the need to make modern medical treatments accessible to the general public. She was speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Cura Immunis’ CAR-T Cell Therapy National Conclave, organized by the Department of Medical Oncology and Clinical Hematology of Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital, held at Crowne Plaza, Ernakulam.
Dr.Divya S Iyer noted that no matter how severe the illness, patients must be instilled with hope that they can overcome it and return to normal life. ‘It is the responsibiltiy of doctors to inspire this hope. Whatever thet reatment may be, making informed decisions is a crucial part of the healing process. The efforts of medical professionals behind the development of newt reatment methods are invaluable,’ she added.
She described CAR-T Cell Therapy as a significant milestone in the field of cancert reatment. Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Sattva S. Neelapu, renowned cancer specialist from the United States and Professor at the Universtiy of Texas, stated that CAR-T Cell Therapy offers great promise in cancer care.
The event was presided over by Dr. P.V. Louis, Managing Director of Medical Trust Hospital. Dr. Divya S. Iyer also officially inaugurated the hospital’s new Bone Marrow Transplant and CAR-T Cell Therapy Unit during the conclave.
Other speakers included Prof. Dr Naveen Khattry from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, Dr. Varun Rajan, Dr. P.V. Thomas, Dr. Boban Thomas, Dr. V. Sudeep, and Dr. Thomas Kuncheria.
