By NE Reporter on October 20, 2018

    PANAJI:
Recognizing the 4th Anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission, the NSS Unit of V. M. Salgaocar Institute of International Hospitality Education (VMSIIHE), participated in the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign.

With the cooperation of the Raia Panchayat the NSS Unit at VMSIIHE, adopted the Raia village in an effort to better the lives of the locals in any way possible.

The NSS Unit at VMSIIHE was recently launched with an orientation programme held on campus. The orientation was conducted by Dr. Joy Pereira, Ayurvedic expert. He enlightened the students on the basic steps each one could take to prevent easily contractible diseases. He also informed about the various ways in which they could keep their surroundings clean in order to benefit the society as a whole.

Immediately after the orientation the NSS unit conducted a door to door campaign to spread awareness on health and sanitation in Manora – Raia. The volunteers were divided into 5 groups and covered as many houses as possible. The 30 NSS volunteers were accompanied by the NSS coordinators Tanvi Prabhe Malkarnekar, along with Programme officers Savio D’Souza and Rachel Amaral. The institutes staff members and the principal Prof. Irfan. S. Mirza along with the Sarpanch, Esmerelda Gomes, and Inacina Quadros, the Panch of Ward 3, assisted the NSS volunteers during the campaign on health and sanitation.
