  • Oil Companies Cautions Against “Online Fraudulent Offers” and “Fake Mails”

By NE Reporter on November 21, 2018

    MUMBAI:
It has come to the notice of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) that a number of fake websites have been created with URL www.ujjwaladealer.com ; www.lpgvitarakchayan.org ; www.ujjwalalpgvitarak.org and www.indanelpg.com by some unknown person(s)/bogus agencies.

These unscrupulous agencies/persons are fraudulently offering false business opportunities for appointment of LPG distributors under the Prime Minister Ujwala Yojana or under the erstwhile Rajeev Gandhi Gramin LPG Vitarak Yojana (RGGLV) Scheme of the OMCs. In order to dupe innocent applicants, the layout of the fake website has been kept similar to the original website www.lpgvitrakchayan.in.

The home page of the fake website refers to their registered office as UJJWALARGGLV_YOJANA, Ujjwala Apartment M G Road Kandivali West Mumbai Maharashtra 400067. Fraudulent emails are being sent from an email Id: info@ujjwaladealer.com . These fake websites are targeting innocent people and are sending fake emails allegedly from the Oil Marketing Companies – viz. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd./ Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd./ Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (using OMC logos on their letterhead for offering LPG Distributorships / Retail Outlets) and are collecting huge sums of money in the name of OMCs.
The public is therefore advised to visit ONLY official websites of OMCs or www.lpgvitrakchayan.in for authentic and official information and prevent themselves from being cheated by the unscrupulous elements.

Furthermore, public is also advised to lodge a complaint with the cybercrime branch of police. The Pradhan Mantri Ujwala Yojana (PMUY) scheme does not envisage opening of separate LPG Distributorships exclusively for the scheme. The advertisements purportedly in the name of “Prime Minister’s Ujwala Yojana and/or Rajiv Gandhi LPG Distributorship Plan for rural areas (RGGLV) Scheme and/or PMUDY’ as mentioned in the fake website does not pertain to any Scheme or appointment of any LPG Distributorship of the Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies. The website operated by vested people, with MOP&NG PMUY logo and Prime Minister’s photo, Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies’ product logo on the website, is fake, malicious and is intended to defraud gullible people.

The appointment of LPG distributors by the public sector OMCs for distribution of LPG is carried out across the country through a well-established selection procedure comprising of detailed advertisement published in leading Newspapers, hosting on internet site of the Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies and conducting draw of lots from amongst all eligible applicants.

None of the Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies have appointed any agency/person on their behalf for selection/appointment of LPG distributors across the country, nor they have authorized any agency/person to solicit any money whatsoever from any candidate at any stage of the selection process.

The Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies shall not be responsible in any way for amount paid to any individual or group of individuals/agencies/Companies purporting to represent Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies. OMCs once again caution members of public that responding online on such websites could result in compromising crucial personal information that can be misused to cause financial and other loss to them.
