Sindhu Joseph, Assistant Professor in Chemistry of Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara became the first person to be awarded doctorate in Environmental Chemistry from the School of Environmental Studies (SES), Cochin University of Science and Technology through on-line Zoom Platform.
In the wake of Covid 19 pandemic, her subject expert Dr. Sreekumar Kurungot, Principal Scientist from CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune could not make it to Kerala, so the whole presentation of open defence was made available online. She did her Ph. D work entitled “Sono, Photo and Sonophotocatalytic Degradation and Adsorption Isotherm Studies of Phenol Using TiO2” under the guidance of Prof. Dr. V. Sivanandan Achari, (Director, SES) and Dr. E. P. Yesodharan, (Professor Emeritus, SES). Ms. Sindhu Joseph is the daughter of retired Federal Bank Manager A.T Joseph and Molly and her husband Adv. Joby Cyriac is a lawyer at the High Court of Kerala.
