  • Rajagiri – HMT Machine Tools Ltd Signs MoU to Promote Training and Research

    KOCHI:
    Rajagiri School of Engineering &
    Technology (RSET), Kakkanad and HMT Machine Tools Limited, Kalamassery (HMT) signed a MoU to promote training and research collaborations, recently at RSET Campus. The main objective of this MoU is to impart practical knowledge on CNC technology and thus provide industrial training to students. Discussions were also carried out to explore possible areas of joint research.img_8707
    Manufacturing has emerged as one of the high growth sectors in India. Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, had launched the ‘Make-in- India’ program to place India on the world map as a manufacturing hub and give global recognition to the Indian economy.Computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery is used manufacture intricate metallic and non-metalliccomponents with precision. There is a growing need for CNC technology in aerospace, automobile, defense etc.
    This MoU will help the students to have basic computer programming skills and manufacturing experience and thus to create employable talent pool as envisaged in ‘Make-in- India’ policy.
    Fr. Jose Alex, Director, RSET and C. M Bidar, General Manager& Unit Head, HMT Machine Tools Ltd., Kalamassery signed the MoU on behalf of RSET and HMT. RangaSudheer, Deputy General Manager (Finance), HMT, RajappanAsari, Assistant General Manager (H.R), HMT, Dr. John M George, Dean &Vice Principal, RSET, Dr. Thankachan T Pullan, HoD, Mechanical Engineering, RSET and other HoD’s and senior faculty members of RSET were also present during the occasion.
