NEW DELHI:
In a unique bid to foster and safeguard India’s cultural heritage, the hugely popular ‘Ramleela’ — the dramatic enactment of the Ramayana — will be staged exclusively by schoolchildren in the national capital, a first of its kind depiction of the Hindu epic anywhere in the world that could fetch it a place in the Guinness Book.
Students from more than 30 schools will present at the entire saga of the Ramayana in a spectacular show during September 20-October 4 at the DDA ground in Dwarka, near Radisson Blu Hotel, New Delhi.
The fortnight-long event, ‘Sampoorna Bal Ramleela – 2017’ has been organised by Knowledge 360, a social, non-profit organization working towards excellence in education, in association with Ashanurup Lok Seva Sansthan. The event is going to be a historic one, which has never been conceptualised before and has been applied for an entry in the Guinness Book of world records.
“This is an endeavour to inculcate our culture and values amongst young impressionable minds,” said Preetima Khandelwal, the President of Knowledge 360 and leading social activist who has conceptualised the event. “The presentation of students varying from nursery to Class 12 is unique and it will surely strike an easy chord in our heart,” she added.
This event is being managed by Instaplanners — a unique group of engineers, lawyers and educationists. The other attractions in the Sampoorna Ramleela include theme-based poster competition on all days with the grand finale on October 2, Garba night, group dance competition, food festival and swings.
The Ramayana, a poetical tale of the triumph of righteousness over evil, stands out for its moral teachings and sacred discourses that are eternally relevant and worthy of emulation. It has also been declared by the UNESCO as an “Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Humanity” with the aim of ensuring its protection worldwide and creating awareness about its significance.
KNOWLEDGE 360, which strives to promote excellence in education, also helps individuals, institutions and organisations to optimize their abilities and efficiencies.
