KOCHI:
An amount of Rs. 240 crore has been ear-marked in the State Budget to establish a State-of- the-art research laboratory at Cochin University of Science and Technology utilizing funds mobilized through th
Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). The decision is based on a detailed project Report submitted by Cusat to upgrade the University as an International Centre of Excellence in Academics and Research, said Cusat Vice-Chancellor Dr. J. Letha.
The proposed laboratory which cater scientists and researchers not only from the country, but the world all over will facilitate inter-disciplinary research in various subjects in cutting-edge- technologies. It will also cater the research and development needs of the Chemical, engineering and other industries in Kochi.
The DPR submitted by Cusat for Rs. 243 crore in this regard visualises an academic complex to boost the research quality and academic output, besides establishing a world class laboratory. Development of campus
infrastructure at par with global standards, ensuring the services of experts globally and enhancement of the quality of campus life are major thrust areas of the DPR. Cusat Vice-Chancellor Dr. J.Letha expressed her gratitude to the Government for its unstinted su
