  • Salam Pappinissery’s Karayilekku Oru Kadal Dooram Released

By NE Reporter on November 13, 2024

    SHARJAH:
A new book titled Karayilekku Oru Kadal Dooram (A Sea Distance to the Shore), which sheds light on the emotional and often tragic stories of expatriates who pass away in foreign lands, was launched at the 43rd Sharjah International Book Fair. The book was unveiled by Dr. M.P. Abdusamad Samadani, Member of Parliament, and Acharyan Arun Prabhakaran, founder of Gayathri Gurukulam.

Written by Salam Pappinissery, a well-known UAE-based individual who assists in the repatriation of deceased expatriates’ bodies to their home countries, the book offers a poignant narrative about the journeys of expatriates who die suddenly abroad. It explores the emotional and physical distances these individuals travel, from the foreign shores to their final resting place back home.

In his address, Dr. Samadani called the book a deeply moving work, stating, “This is not just a book—it is a testament to the real lives of people, and it’s impossible to finish reading it without shedding tears.” He praised the author for capturing the raw human emotions behind the expatriate experience. Acharyan Arun Prabhakaran also lauded the book, describing it as “the most beautiful explanation of divinity,” reflecting its profound insights on life, death, and spirituality.

Salam Pappinissery revealed that all royalties from the book will be donated to the Indian Consulate’s Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF). The fund provides assistance in repatriating the bodies of expatriates who die without family or support. “Through this book, we aim to ensure that the bodies of expatriates, who are often forgotten in foreign lands, are given the dignity of a proper return to their homeland,” Pappinissery explained.
Published by Saikatham Books, Karayilekku Oru Kadal Dooram is expected to resonate deeply with readers, offering an emotional and realistic portrayal of the challenges faced by expatriates living abroad.

The book launch was attended by several distinguished guests, including Machingal Radhakrishnan, Sheikh Kasim Al Murshidi, Sreedharan Prasad, Basheer Abdurehman Al Asahari, Chacko Oolakkadan, KP Mohammed Peroor, Sangeetha Mathew, and Farsana Abdul Jabbar.
