  • Schindler India Awarded with IGBC Green Factory Building ‘Platinum’ Rating

    MUMBAI:
    Schindler India, leading providers of escalators and elevators, a 100% owned subsidiary of Schindler Group today was awarded “Platinum” certification for its manufacturing facility at Chakan in Pune by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) . IGBC Green Factory Buildings is the first rating programme developed in India, exclusively for the industrial sector. It is based on accepted energy and environmental principles and strikes a balance between known established practices and emerging concepts. The Platinum certification was awarded as Schindler initiated new initiatives like solar energy, packaging pallets reuse, recycling of TPU and maintaining the water and energy conservation measures.
    Schindler manufacturing facility, is fully functional from beginning of 2014. This sprawling, world-class campus houses the elevator factory, a 71-meter tall elevator test tower, the global R&D centre and the upcoming escalator plant. All this is a testimony to Schindler Group’s commitment to the Indian Market and our endeavour to be closer to our customers and offer them innovative mobility solutions.
    Schindler India is committed to growing the elevators & escalator business in India. Under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, Schindler has invested ₹430 crore as a part of the total ₹600 crore outlay. Schindler has been reaping the benefits of reduced energy and water consumption by around 30%, Enhanced indoor air quality, Good day lighting, Health & well being of the occupants and Safety of the workmen
    Commenting on the announcement, Uday Kulkarni, President India and South East Asia said, “Schindler is committed to conducting its business activities in harmony with society and the environment. Schindler’s products and services are designed to provide energy efficient and eco-friendly solutions to architects, contractors and building owners. It is only natural that we build our elevators in a manner that is conserving towards the environment and resources.”

They have partnered several prestigious infrastructure projects in India, like the new Mumbai International Airport, Terminal-2, the Chennai International Airport, the Delhi Metro, the Delhi Airport Metro, the Mumbai Monorail, the Kolkata International Airport, as well as the Mumbai, Bengaluru, Noida & Nagpur metros.
