  • Singer Sam Shiva Offers Multilingual Music at General Hospital

    KOCHI:
    Versatile singer Sam Shiva hit all the right notes today as he treated patients at the Government General Hospital here to a medley of songs in multiple languages, including English, Spanish and Japanese.
    The multifaceted artist, supported by his family, displayed his talent in singing in several languages with ease, at the 128th edition of the Kochi Biennale Foundation’s weekly ‘Arts and Medicine’ programme.Image
    “Music knows no bounds of languages, being able to enjoy the melody and being able to enjoy the moment is what matters,” he said.
    Sam Shiva is a multi-talented artist known for his powerful singing voice. He is a music composer and guitarist who rose to fame as a playback singer with the title song of the 2012 Malayalam movie ‘Ustaad Hotel’.
    He is also the founder of the Samshiva Band, a talented rock, pop and fusion band based in Kochi, that has been entertaining audiences for years with its conventional and modern repertoire in English, Spanish, Latin, French, Japanese, Arabic, Hindi, Tamil and Kannada, among other languages.
    Sam Shiva, was accompanied at the Biennale music show by his family including, mother Maya Shivadasan, brother Samjaad and daughter Laxmi,  a student of the Bhavans Vidya Mandir. They rendered fourteen songs which included the Malayalam duet ‘Ikkareyanente’, a medley and the group song ‘Kadalinakkare Ponore’ from the 1965 movie Chemmeen.
    The Arts and Medicine series organised by the Kochi Biennale Foundation in association with the Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra meant to provide solace to the patients through music features various artists and draws a fair crowd on a weekly basis.
