  • SpiceJet Repatriates 295 Indians from Moscow & Tashkent

By NE Reporter on August 6, 2020

    GURUGRAM:
SpiceJet, the country’s favourite airline and the largest air cargo operator, operated two repatriation flights bringing back home 295 Indian nationals from Moscow and Tashkent. These special repatriation flights were operated in association with film actor Sonu Sood.

SpiceJet used its Boeing 737 aircraft for the Moscow-Chennai flight that was operated on August 4 and Tashkent-Delhi flight operated today. The 295 Indian nationals repatriated had been stranded in Russia and Uzbekistan for over two months. SpiceJet will be operating another repatriation flight from Manila to Delhi on the 7 th August to bring back 180 Indians from the capital city of Philippines.

Ajay Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, SpiceJet, said, “It’s really heart- warming to see SpiceJet and film star Sonu Sood join hands to be the force for good and help in bringing back our fellow Indians to their homeland when they need their families the most. Repatriation of 295 Indians from Moscow and Tashkent with Manila in the pipeline next is yet another effort from SpiceJet to be available anytime, anywhere for its citizens. I am glad to see SpiceJet being an integral part of the national duty in these unprecedented times and becoming a true socially responsible brand.”

SpiceJet had recently coordinated with Sonu Sood to bring back home 1500 Indian students who had been stranded in Kyrgyzstan for over two months. The airline had operated multiple flights to different Indian cities as part of this initiative. On August 1, the airline operated its maiden long-haul charter flight bringing back home 269 Indians from Amsterdam to Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

SpiceJet has operated close to 500 charter flights to help repatriate over 80,000 stranded Indian citizens from countries such as Kyrgyzstan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka. The airline has operated multiple flights for seafarers in addition to operating several charters within the country.

Amidst the greatest crisis ever to hit global aviation, SpiceJet has emerged as India’s Number One Cargo Company. The airline has operated over 5000 cargo flights and transported over 27,500 tons of cargo – this is more than double of all domestic airlines combined together – carrying medicines and medical equipment and fruits and vegetables to all corners of India and the world since March 25, 2020.
