IDUKKI:
Spices Board Chairman Subhash Vasu will interact with spice farmers and other stakeholders from Kerala and Tamil Nadu on the problems and prospects of the spices sector during his two-day visit to Idukki in the first week of July.
In an interface scheduled at the Indian Cardamom Research Institute, Myladumpara on July 4 (Wednesday), Shri Vasu will be interacting with around a hundred stakeholders of the industry. A day later (July 5), he would be meeting another group of farmers and stakeholders from Kerala and Tamil Nadu at the Spices Park, Puttady.
The Chairman’s visit is intended to provide momentum to the awareness campaign on judicious use of pesticides and chemicals initiated by the Board in Idukki. The challenges of climate change, increased pest and disease incidences, fluctuating market and other problems faced by the farmers will be the other focal points during his interface with the farmers.
Vasu will be accompanied by a team of officials and scientists of the Board during his meetings with the farmers.
