THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
It is high time the IT ecosystem tapped into the novel possibilities of Edge AI, a combination of artificial intelligence (AI) and edge computing, to bring in innovations in various sectors, said Jyothis Indirabhai, Co-Founder & CEO of Netrasemi.
Jyothis was speaking at a seminar on ‘Edge AI: The Next AI Front Line’, organized by nasscom-associated FAYA: 80, a knowledge community based at Technopark, as part of its 118th edition of the open-for-all tech seminar at Technopark here.
Edge AI refers to the deployment of AI algorithms and AI models directly on local edge devices such as sensors or Internet of Things (IoT) devices, which enables real-time data processing and analysis without constant reliance on cloud infrastructure.
Based in Thiruvananthapuram, Netrasemi is India’s first AI chip startup which entered the AI space with high-performance AI chipsets for Edge AI use cases.
Noting that Edge AI is one of the most intriguing AI technologies, Jyothis said it offers a plethora of exciting possibilities as it brings AI from the cloud to end-user devices. He also explained the origins of Edge AI and the opportunities for innovating with it.
The seminar explored the capabilities of the Edge AI technology and how it’s augmented by advanced AI chipsets. It offered a platform for technology enthusiasts to discuss the potential aspects and relevance of Edge AI in Indian context.
The session was attended by developers, cloud architects, AI enthusiasts, and interns. The monthly programme aims to foster a culture of casual tech-versations and enhance knowledge of techies through insightful seminars, discussions, and workshops.
