  • The Younger Generation Finds their Roots in Indian Handicrafts

    THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
    A panel discussion was organised by O by Tamara in association with Vedhika on the topic, ‘Young Indians finding their roots in Indian craft’. The programme was organised as part of ‘Azure’, an event launching the fashion designs of Vedhika boutique’s owner, Maithri Srikant. Along with this, an exhibition of clothes, textiles, food items, and art programmes which are a part of the Gujarati culture was arranged.

    Shashi Tharoor, MP, while participating in the panel discussion said that the younger generation returning to the clothes and cultural symbols that evoke our Indian tradition is a strength of our culture. The Swadeshi movement, which is a milestone in our freedom struggle, was carried out by highlighting the clothes and products of our country. He said that materials including Khadar are the symbols of such national struggles and the pride of our nation. Nationality and culture are buried in our clothes. He also added that we should be prepared to hold on strongly to the traditions of our country. Gowri Parvathy Bayi, Princess of Travancore, Dr. Darlie Koshy PhD (IITD), Former Director, National Institute of Design, and Shruti Shibulal, CEO and Director, Tamara Leisure Experiences were also a part of the panel discussion.
