  • Three Day International Conference Inaugurated at Cusat

    KOCHI:
    A three-day International Conference on “Energy, Environment, Materials and Safety (ICEEMS’19)” organised by School of Engineering of Cochin University Science and Technology, in association with THDC Institute of Hydropower Engineering and Technology supported by Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP III) was inaugurated by Dr. K N Madhusoodanan, Vice- Chancellor, CUSAT at a function to be presided over by Prof.M.R.R Panicker, Principal, SOE, at Science Seminar Complex of the university.

    Dr. J. Letha, Former Vice –Chancellor & Chairperson BOG, TEQIP-Phase III, CUSAT was Guest of Honour. Syndicate Members Dr. P S Sreejith (Dean of Engineering), Dr. K K Saju and Dr. Sasi Gopalan, Dr. G S Tomer, Director, THDC, IHET, TEHRI, Dr. A B Bhasi, Treasurer, ICEEMS’19, Dr. G Madhu, Convenor, Technical Committee, ICEEMS’19, Dr. N Biju Org. Secretary, ICEEMS’19 and Dr. Latha P G, Jt. Org. Secretary, ICEEMS’19 spoke.

    Energy security, economic growth and environment protection are the national policy drivers of any country. The increased production and consumption in energy sector lead to high levels of pollution and eventually climate change with possible disastrous consequences. At the same time, the energy needs to be made available at an acceptable cost in order to avoid negative impacts on economic growth. Hence it is time to address the important aspects of energy and environment with a holistic approach. Research on materials is expected to play a prominent role in the development of sustainable technologies for energy conversion, storage and savings. The International conference offers a common platform to share and discuss the emerging trends in the fields.
