  • “Waste to Energy & Waste to Wealth”: International Workshop at CUSAT

    KOCHI:
    The Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering, CUSAT will organize an International workshop on Sustainable Technologies for “Waste to Energy & Waste to Wealth” Challenges and Opportunities in association with GJ Eco Power Pvt Ltd.

    Kochi Mayor Soumini Jain will inaugurate the workshop at 9.30 am on 16 th December 2019 at the Seminar hall of CUSAT School of Engineering. The purpose of the conference is creating awareness about the Energy Generation Potential & Opportunities in Energy Generation of the different waste amongst the target stakeholder group.

    The concept “waste to wealth” will emphasize more on segregation of waste at source and decentralized waste processing in small habitations, through which ordinary citizens can make easy cash from trash. This conference proposes in-depth discussions around these developments and aims to explore the challenges and opportunities involved in waste to energy and waste to wealth technologies.

    The key speakers of the workshop include Graham Janes (GJ Eco Power U.K), Prof. Sudhakumar Ghosh from Jadavkumar University, Kolkata, President, International Society of Waste Management, Air and Water (ISWMAW), Prof. (Dr.) Babu Alappat, IIT Delhi, Kabeer B Haroon, Founder, Clean Kerala Company, Dr. A Sajidas, MD, Biotech India Ltd who will present their views on a variety of topics such as Strategies and Technologies for successful Waste-to-Energy Projects, new technologies for recycling and sorting, The economics of waste to energy projects in the region, Renewable fuel (Biodiesel, Bioethanol, Gas liquification, Hydrogen) etc. Academicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, technology providers, government agencies, funding agencies, industry associations, etc. can participate.
